It Just Gets Worse Keep your head down low Watch your little phone glow Afraid to look up See someone you know Are your memories empty worlds? Watch in disbelief, because It just gets worse Lie awake In a terror state A destined fate. Night comes soon For a fool, you see What's killing you Is killing me too It can never be A fair race Chart your course To a better place Plastic sea Of knockoff fakes Acting tough Is all it takes You wait and wait And the bubble bursts And it just got worse Night comes soon For a fool like me If you believe In anything, anything In an empty world You're only free To celebrate Your misery Lie awake In a terror state Of knockoff fakes That's all it takes You wait and wait And the bubble bursts And it Just Got Worse The money curse! Night comes soon for a fool like me If you believe In anything, anything! Path Of Desire © Michael D'Amico SOCAN

Lift Me Up 04:11
Lift Me Up I'm here when you call me call me I'm at home I'm here while you watch me watch me like a sleeping stone I'm just a camera waiting for the right light taking a long look through the weary lens of daylight Here when you saw me last I don't go out much any more turning my hour glass over on the living room floor - and again once more I'm just a calendar passing through another day - you'll see just a tinkerer, a thinkerer and apparently Some day we're gonna die Some day you'll wake and won't have an alibi Still, oh, we're gonna try, but someday you'll wake with a permanent smile And I'm a songwriter Floating on an endless sea Lines from my left to right Overhead and beneath my feet Lift me up on this bed of words This knowledge curse Poetaster verse Lift me up on this bed of words I'm just a camera waiting for the right light taking a long look Through the weary lens of daylight

Follow Your Nose (© Michael D’Amico) All the years All the shit that goes down And we're here Squatting on sacred ground When you follow your nose And no one knows where to go I'll follow you there, away Away from sorrow Real life will never do Oh, they'll have a good time with you They say all we need is a bigger gun All we need is the power to reach the sun And one voice is strong Are we less or more? Does the truth sound right? Or is your money belt too tight? When you follow your nose Noone knows where to go I'll follow you there (away) Away from sorrow (Soluble Songs publishing SOCAN) Recorded in Toronto, Canada fall 2020 We acknowledge the land we live and meet on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Went to a rally where Nobody got hurt Where Nobody's face was smashed into the dirt I marched in a rally upset by the cost of fake lakes and wars that end in tragic loss I marched in a rally without any money and they've spent millions on another G20 I went to express my plight: "Feed those who need!", to protest is my right! I went to a rally I went to a rally where Nobody got blamed Where Nobody was beaten and hundreds were detained I witnessed police block the marcher's path with shields and batons, a big fence and riot masks I witnessed a call for aboriginal rights A seat at the table? Instead we got a bloody fight! I went to a rally prepared to stand my ground Use my voice, shout MY government down I went to a rally where Nobody got hurt Where Nobody's face was smashed into the dirt It's a time when bullies rule the world It's a time when bullies rule the world I'm Nobody's fool, Nobody's fool I went to a rally where Nobody got hurt where Nobody's face was smashed into the dirt Shame, shame!

My Routine 03:59
My Routine It's minus 24 degrees They're still digging up my street I'm not going anywhere Not going out there All night party creeps wont let me sleep Broken water main still leaks Not going down these stairs Not going anywhere Oh, I'm in soo deep, As they tunnel below my feet Yeah I'm in so deep, it's my routine! my routine I try not to shout when I speak The best news is kinda' weak My world is incomplete Had enough of the backwards beep Oh I'm in soo deep There's trouble below my street distress is a point of view I'm destined for more abuse It's my routine, My routine Path of Desire Michael D'Amico Jan 17/14

This Road of Pain © Michael D’Amico, Feb. 2020                              Tell me you're an ocean Tell me something new Everything you long for Not every song is blue Are your eyes wide open? If you only knew Of my sweet devotion Destined to be true   Standing in still water Wading into night Before the tide moves quickly And swallows up my light Everything you long for 'Ain't always ready for you Often ever slowly An idea will slip through Along the road of pain Where we've already been My love lies along This road we're on This road of pain Tell me one secret, I don't already know The Future fades into, A dog and pony show, And the rain keeps on coming Relentlessly slow What keeps me from drowning Is this creative flow This road of pain we're on, Somehow it feels the same Where we've already been, Along this road again This road of pain

Imagination Song How can I find you? Where have you gone? To my dear memory My imagination song How can I find you? Where have you gone? There to remind me Determined and strong Have you flourished? Have you changed? Have you progeny? To ease your way And will I find you, Determined and strong? Have the years been kind too, And helped you along? And when I find you Where you belong To my dear memory My imagination song Until we sleep Until we eat Until we meet Until How can i find you? Where have you gone? There to remind me Determined and strong Path of Desire 2020, SOCAN

Both Sides Now Joni Mitchell (crazy crow music © 1967) Rows and flows of angel hair And ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere I’ve looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun They rain and snow on everyone So many things I would have done But clouds got in my way I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It’s cloud illusions I recall I really don't know clouds at all Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels The dizzy dancing way you feel As every fairy tale comes real I’ve looked at love that way But now its just another show You leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know Don't give yourself away I’ve looked at love from both sides now From give and take, and still somehow It’s love’s illusions I recall I really don't know love at all Tears and fears and feeling proud To say “I love you” right out loud Dreams and schemes and circus crowds I’ve looked at life that way But now old friends are acting strange They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed Well something’s lost, but something’s gained In living every day I've looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow Its life’s illusions I recall I really don't know life at all I’ve looked at life from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It’s life’s illusions I recall I really don't know life at all

Huge assist from Victor Bateman who plucked and bowed Double Bass on last-but-not-least addition Follow Your Nose, Martin Tori played and recorded additional Guitar parts for This Road of Pain, That's Don Cherry's voice on Went To A Rally (Where Nobody Got Hurt), the day infamous Rob Ford was being introduced to Toronto City council after he was actually elected Mayor in 2010. Activist/Author Judy Rebick appears at the tail end of Went To A Rally, calling for a public inquiry for Police actions regarding the G20 meeting downtown Toronto in June of 2010.

Late cellist Kiki Misumi (1960 - 2018) elevated anything she played on including soundtracks we did together for CBC's Life and TImes and various independent solo projects for myself and Toronto's Bunny Brown. One brief example here closes Path of Desire entitled Requiem For The Planet.
